Personal Robots
Personal robots are the technology that the human begin interface it and design it to make it useful for an individual. personal robots complete the task given by an individual, the task can be of home or a workplace making them more productive. the period from industrial robots to personal robots is changing the productivity in the home and in work setting. turning the robot like ASIMO (ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000.ASIMO is a humanoid robot created by Honda in 2000)and Atlas into a personal robot or technological servant, take a lot of effort and huge knowledge of programming task. But due to improvement in the technological field, it has become to do that task easier.
History:-
- iRobot Corp. introduced the Roomba (Robotic vacuum cleaner)in 2002
- The Institute for Personal Robots in Education introduced the concept to teach computing using personal robots in 2006.
- Stanford University Personal Robotics Program introduced PR1 in 2007. Stanford AI Robot (STAIR)
- Willow Garage introduced the PR2 robot in 2010.
- RoboDynamics introduced Luna in 2011
- Milagrow HumanTech introduced India's 1st Robotic vacuum cleaner, the RedHawk in 2011 and then the World's 1st Body Massaging Robot in 2012
Robotic toys, such as the well known Furby, have been popular since 1998. There are also small humanoid remote-controlled robots. Electronic pets, such as robotic dogs, can be good companions. They have also have been used by many universities in competitions such as the RoboCup.
There are also phone-powered robots for fun and games, such as Romo which is a small robot that employs smartphones as its brain. By using another mobile device and a cross-platform app, the user can drive it, make it produce animated facial expressions, direct it to dance or turn it into a Spybot.
Social Robots:-
Social robots take on the function of social communication. Domestic humanoid robots are used by elderly and immobilized residents to keep them company. Wakamaru is a domestic humanoid robot developed in Japan. Its function is to act as a caretaker. Wakamaru has a number of operations and “can be programmed to remind patients to take their medicine and even call a doctor when it appears that someone is in distress. Paro, a robotic baby seal, is intended to provide comfort to nursing home patients.
Home-telepresence robots can move around in a remote location and let one communicate with people there via its camera, speaker, and microphone. Through other remote-controlled telepresence robots, the user can visit a distant location and explore it as if they were physically present. These robots can, among other applications, permit health-care workers to monitor patients or allow children who are homebound because of injuries, illnesses, or other physical challenges to attend school remotely. Kuri, JIBO, and ConnectR are family robots that include telepresence
Different types of Personal Robots:-- Robot Vacuum

- The Alfawise Magnetic, Robot That Will Cleans Your Windows
- The Segway mini pro, The Hands-Free Scooter That’s Safer Than a Hoverboard
- Robotic Lawnmower

The advantage of Personal Robots:-
Robots will definitely penetrate and become a part of our everyday lives just how smartphones and social network today is.
- Self-driving cars (some could call them robots) will be prevalent in most nations.
- Robots will be serving us at the restaurants globally.
- Robotic nannies and nurses will be more commonplace in hospitals.
- Robots will be used for delivery drops and pickups.
- Robots will be deployed for search & rescue missions prior to human involvement.
- Drones and robotic soldiers will play an even bigger role in the defense.
- People will start romanticizing with robots.
- Planetary explorations and surveys will be conducted by robots.
The disadvantage of Personal Robots:-
- As the robots will do the work of a human, eventually humans will become lazy
- kids can lose their bonds with their parents because robots are entertaining them
- The robots have the specific job to do that is ordered by their operator, and if the robot has malfunctioned, The chaos will happen
- Even if Personal Robots are launched, it would be too expensive for poor people to buy that
- If the robots do not work well in critical situations then it might cost the death of innocent people
- Might it will not react well with other robots
- And last but not least, Some of the people may even lose their jobs due to personal robots
